Review:Oh, this movie started out so promising. Cinematographically, it looks really nice, with burned in shots of the sun and all that. The basic premise is a dangerous one; a group of astronauts travel in a ship to rekindle a dying sun and save the human race. I say dangerous, because it could easily stray into "Armageddon" territory. But there's no one like Bruce Willis in this movie, and it gets about two-thirds of the way through drawing more comparisons to Solaris than anything else, with its pacing, tension, and visuals. But the last act takes it towards "Event Horizon" grade cheesy space horror shlock. It's not nearly as bad as "Event Horizon" but it was still unnecessary and took a lot away from the movie as a whole. Nonetheless, the expressive cinematography and deliberate storytelling make this film definitely worth seeing, especially if you are a fan of serious science fiction.
