So school's started back up. And to tell the truth, I am really glad. While my kids are fairly juvenile, they don't sit around crying and crapping themselves all day. It's really a relief to get a break from this poop factory. She just cries all the time, and lacking breasts there isn't too much I can do to make her stop. No matter what I do, she just cries and cries. Sometimes she has just peed or pooped herself, which I can help her with, but most of the time there doesn't seem to be any reason at all other than that she's lonely and wants to suck on a nipple. Which I can understand. But can't remedy.

And the crying really gets to me in some fundamental way. I guess it's been tuned over millions of generations to cause an emotional response and get people to help the baby, but I am having a hard time seeing how the human race has managed to propagate itself like this, because it only makes me want to bash her cute little head in. Obviously I wouldn't do that, but it's really frustrating to hear her crying and not be able to do anything about it. So it looks like I will be working a lot of overtime for the next five years.

Thankfully, this week is going to be especially busy. On Sunday, we have the big cultural festival at our school. All the classes put on some kind of attraction, and lots of people come. At normal high schools, this is a lot of fun, because there are lots of games and haunted houses and things to actually do. But since UraJitsu is a really uptight school, the kids aren't allowed to do anything except sell food. But of course since everyone is selling food, no one can sell too much of it and they all lose money. And there's nothing to do except walk around and eat.

And the junior high kids aren't even allowed to do that. They have to do actual cultural presentations. For example, this year the third graders went Kyoto and Nara for their school trip, so they are all going to report on that, even though everyone in Japan over the age of 14 has been on the same trip and already knows all about it. The point is, as with everything, to sell the school to potential students and their parents, and to show current parents that their kids are actually learning something. It is a good chance for the kids to work together as a group and make stuff, such a cardboard models of the famous models of Kyoto and Nara.

But none of this really concerns me. Because my guitar club is also doing a concert, and we need to focus on that all week if we are to have any chance of doing a good job. We're doing five songs, have a bunch of new members in the 1st and 2nd grade who have never been in front of people before, and we've all slacked off all summer. Plus, all 3 of our bass players can't come, so I am going to have to play bass for all the songs. Some of these songs I can pick up pretty easily, because I already know how to play them on guitar so I know the chords and all that. But a few songs, I haven't even really listened to. So I am going to have a busy week with that, on top of teaching and stuff.
