So I've been teaching summer school classes. It's a real pain in the ass! I can't understand why they would want to put kids through that. Even the good kids are going crazy. Because we're not on the regular schedule (There's no summer school for things like art or music) all the classes are two hours long. I spent one class with the 3rd graders, making them retake the final exams over and over until they passed. Even though it was the same test that the kids had taken a few times already, there were kids who couldn't pass it after two hours. It didn't help that the other teacher I was working with really hates the third graders, and was walking around the whole time calling them "friggin' retaaded" under his breath. Some of them are rather "special," but still. Anyway, outside of that one day of retests, we're mostly playing quiz games and stuff like that. We did a scavenger hunt where we hid clues all around the school, and the kids had to follow the clues around to get a password and win the game. We hid the clues in a lot of the other rooms of the school, but the problem was that people kept suddenly using those rooms, or noticing that the door to some unused room was wide open and locking it. Up next: summer vacation!
